Apex of heart lies at 5th intercosta space , 9 cm from the midline but the apex of the pericardium lies at the level of Angle of Louis and fuse with the root of great vessels.

Area of superficial dullness : the part of heart (sternocostal) that lies behind the
cardiac notch and uncovered by lungs.

Embryologically fossa ovalis and annulus ovalis are the remnants of septum primum and septum secundum respectively.

Madelungs deformity ? Subluxation of the lower end of ulna , due to retarded growth of lower end of radius.

Normal amount of fluid in pleural space is : 5-10 ml

What is the extent of lungs ? C7- T10

What is pulmonary unit?
The part of lung supplied by a resperitory bronchile.

Typical intercostal spaces : 3-6
Typical intercostal nerves : 4-6
Typical ribs : 3-9

Morrisons Parallelogram

Draw two horizontal lines through T11 and L3 and two vertical lines 2.5 and 9.5 cm from the midline .
The area enclosed is Morrisons Paralellogram . Hilum of kidney lies 4 cm from the median plane .





Structures of SCALP

S: skin
C: connective tissue
A: aponeurotic galea
L: loose areolar tissue
P: perichondrium





Why is loose arelolar tissue of scalp called dangerous area ?

Because it can transmit the infection from scalp to the cranial venous sinuses via Emissary veins .






What are different areas required for speech ?
BASW

Brocas area 44,45
Angular gyrus 39
Supramarginal gyrus 40
Wernicke’s area 22





What is artery of cerebral haemorrhage ?

Lateral striate branch of Middle Cerebral Artery






What is renal angle ?

Angle between the lower border of 12th rib and the outer border of erector spinae .
Overlies lower part of kidney .

Manubrium T3/ T4
Sternal body T5 to T8
Sternal angle
Or
Angle of luis T4
Xiphisternum T8 to T9


Suprapleural membrane is also known as Tendon of Scalenus Minimus

Mechanism of movement of respiration
Bucket handle movement : increase transverse diameter
Piston movement : increase antero-posterior diameter


Extent of lungs
C7 to T10

It is periosteum or perichondrium.
