Yh I saw that in Gallery

It could be a Pterygium not sure, detail history taking and clinical examination is needed. If you could provide the detail history and relevant ophthalmic examination that would help to reach the diagnosis.

Thanx doctor Pal...!! that sounds really good. Pterigium....I made a google search for images and find many eye images similar to mine. Now, I had another search for the causes........and find UV irradiation is one among the principal cause. I fit in this category since...I used to expose to high doses of UV during my research career. Once I had a severe exposure and was not able to open my eyes for 3 days. But it was about an year back. Secondly my eyes are more exposed to computer monitor. That could be another cause....

Thanx for your diagnosis...now..what treatment I can undertake...?.. I prefer chemo...much worried about surgery. Is there any common drugs/eye drops available for this?
Please let me know in this regard.

Well malignanttumor,

I am sorry to hear that it happened with you and please make sure you rule out Pinguecula and also find the attachement for detail on [Pterygium and Pinguecula]

There are various approaches for Pterygium but none of them are effective. If the Pterygium is interfering with your vision, then typically it is removed surgically. Otherwise, it is left alone. The rate of recurrence is as high as 40, and they tend to come back bigger and faster.

Please consult an ophthamlogist for more detail on Ptetyrigium please go through the following link it has described beautifully.

Hi Dr.Pal,
Thank you so much for the link. That gives even more clear picture. Ruling out pinguecla is not necessary since I believe it could be the initial stage of pterigium. So UV irradiation is the consistent cause. In my case I have no probs in vision since it is in initial stage and not even spread properly into cornea. However, I have good irritation while looking at computer monitor or during bath [soap]. Hope avoiding radiation by sun glasses and exposing eyes to soap may stop the growth. As I hear this is a benign one. Thanx for helping me out.
