Question Problem??? - 31-10-2007, 04:40 AM

Am 38yrs old man and been married 4yrs. My problem is that after i have made love to my wife, i have this sharp pain in my penis. If i have an erection 10 to 20 minutes later after ejaculation, i feel this pain in the underside of my pennis, just before the pennis head (glan). The next 3 hours or more, the pain may be present, but not in the forefront, i only become aware of it when i have an erection. Thereafter, it disappears completely until next time we have sex.
I had never had sex prior to sleeping with my wife but used to masturbate and i guess that rules out venereal disease??? I read somewhere that its probably an infection. I also saw a doctor who gave me some painkillers and explained that perhaps i have a large volume of semen and that the pain is caused when its being expelled from the body. However, that does not explain why i feel pain after i have had sex.
My wife was a virgin when i married her. 4yrs after our marriage, she complains of pain during penetration. For this reason, every time we make love, i only manage 3 or 4 millimeters into her vagina. Did i infect her with something? Is there an antibiotic that can help us? Our sex life is not as fun as it should be, especially for her. HELP!!!

Dear waziri,

I congratulate both of you to have a single partner in your life which is must in today's world to get rid of some of the deadly STDs like HIV and Hepatitis B and mastrubation is totally natural and absolutely normal, it is nothing to do with your current problem.

According to your information STDs and urethritis can be ruled out so I have couple of things in my mind like you might have prostatitis, can account for these symptoms but you didn't mention for how long you have been having those symptoms beside this in a remote thought Peyronie's disease but it lacks the pain in the tip of the penis.

It is doubtful that there is any blockage to the blood flow in the penis as this would be quite unusual. However you may have to undergo cystoscopy to evaluate for possible anatomical abnormalities - such as a urethral stricture or polyp.

These options and further evaluation can be discussed with your urologist. Therefore I suggest you to follow up with your personal physician or seek for an urologist consultation.

According to the information your wife might have got Secondary vaginismus however detail history and clinical examination is needed therefore a gynaecological consultation is must.

Hope this information was helpful to you.
