Pickle, u have raised a very good topic, which must be discussed and learnt. I also use computer for many hours a day. I do not know whether it can lead to paralysis or not, but there are many other problems related with sitting for long hours in front of computer. Till 3 years ago, I used computer for only few hours daily. I did not care about position of by body, leg, wrist, etc. Moreover I used to bend my back towards monitor for longer time as I played too much PC Games. Then once I got severe pain on my back -was nothing other than lack of movement- doctor reffered me for 3 week Physiotherapy. Then after I became aware of the fact that we should do some movement substantially and take care of our body position. What I learnt in meantime has really helped me feel untired even after a full day computer use.

(In Fig. pardon me for the language but the green arrows tell everything)
I made several changes like, first I bought
a back friendly chair, learnt to sit in correct manner that means
"L" -position. Your
Knee, hip and elbow should be bent at 90°. Set up ur chair so that your legs are not hung and Your
Feet rest on the floor. Keyboard must be reachable when ur
shoulders are relaxed, arms are verticle, elbow bent at 90° and wrists are not bent up or down at all, and most important thing is that u
lean ur back from top to buttom resting on the back of the chair so that your back is verticle. Similarly I gave monitor the adequate height so that my head is almost upright.

Next important thing is movement,
even while sitiing on the chair one should frequently strech/move its body( leg, ankle, wrist, back etc). Moreover I think most tired organ during long computer use are the eyes. One should
repeatedly focus on far lying object. Very often ppl including me knowingly adjourn the
PISS-Business, it is actually a very good reason to take a break. We should make
a frequent break of few minutes every hour.
I have actually a very good software that reminds u to take a break repeatedly with some advices to excercise. But unfortunately only in german language. There may be also in english.
