Change date of period - 23-07-2007, 05:46 AM

Hi
I hope you can advise.... I am not on the pill as hormone treatments don't agree with me. Therefore I prefer not to take the pill for any length of time unless necessary. I am getting married on the 16th october which is the date of my period due date. If I start taking the pill now and stop taking it at the end of august, will I in effect, be changing my due date from the 16th of the month to the end of the month?
I dont want to take it for three months to avoid my period as I dont want to have side effects related to pill usage. But can I just manipulate the date as described above?
Hope you can help me
Earthgirl

One of the side effects of pills is that your due date may change. First thing, this is a side effect, that means it may occur or it may not. Second thing, the date may change or it may not.

Dear earthgirl,

This is a very genuine question. Most of the young couple do come and consult for the various possibilitie regarding family planning.

Traditional oral contraceptive pills comes in 28 days tablets that means you will have 21 days tablets contains the active ingrediant which will help you to prevent pregnancy and last 7 days inactive ingrediants that is the period where you will have your menstruation back, i.e. with 28 days tablets you get your monthly menstrual cycle.

When you are taking 28 days pills you will have to start the pills on the first day of your menstruation and then you will get back your menstruation on the same date as previous (few days plus/minus). That means you will get you menstruation around your marriage days.

Therefore either go for Inj. Depo provera (works for at least three month) or oral contraceptives pills (OCP) of 91 days. OCP are available in packets of 21, 28, or 91 tablets.

The best tablet for you would be 91 day's. This packet will contain three trays of tablets. Start with the first tablet on the first tray and continue taking one tablet every day in the order specified on the packet until you have taken all of the tablets on all of the trays. The last seven tablets are a different color. These tablets are not birth-control pills; they contain an inactive ingredient. During this seven days period you will get your menstruation.

So, if your intention is to stop the date of menstruation you have to take depo provera Inj. it works for three months that means you won't get your menstruation for atleast three months though there might be heavy bleeding in the initial phases or go for 91 days OCP (although you can take 28 days pills by skipping inactive 7 days tablets but that would be confusing for you).

Mind it taking OCP won't change the usual date of your menstruation, thouhg there will be irregular menstruaion when you start taking pils but your natural cycle will resume eventually once you stop it.

earthgirl visit this link[ The Pill - Birth Control Pills - Oral Contraception at www.Birth-Control-Comparison.info from Cedar River Clinics ] and learn more about oral contraceptive pills.

But I would stronly recommend you to see a doctor and go for the best possible way. This kind of online discussion is to give you the idea not to tell you take this drug or that.

I hope it helped you if not please feel free to ask.

Again, I inssit you go to the doctor near by disucuss this issue and get the best possible way.
