Sarosem, treatment with human growth hormone theoretically corrects the deficiency, but is most successful when the child is young. It must be given by injection. Growth hormone for injection is produced artificially in the laboratory.
Since your friend is already 22 years old, I think epiphyseal growth plates have been fused or joined together. Once the growth plates have fused, GH replacement therapy is rarely effective.
At present no medical breakthrough has occured to correct your friend's condition at that age. Disclaimer
