New cases in Pous 2064, HIV = 175, AIDS = 26, Death = 2. HIV rate is very high in Housewives than sex workers in Nepal ! ! ! HIV status in Nepal till 2005: Total Adult=70000, Adult Prevalence (15-49)=0.55%, Number of Women (15-49) LWHA=15,310 (22%), HIV Prevalence rate in IDUs=32.7%, HIV prevalence rate in sex worker=3.8%, HIV prevalence rate in client of SW=2.1%. The latest U.N. report shows that 65 million people have been infected with HIV since it was first identified 25 years ago. Twenty five million people have died of AIDS.

Fungating wounds - 04-05-2008, 04:39 PM

I would like to enquire what is used in rural Nepal to curb foulodor of fungating cancerous wounds. Also, what is used for pain management for these wounds?

It could be a case of squamous cell carcinoma (as you said fungating and foul smelling). Depending up on the severity and the extent of the disease, amputation might have to do. There is nothing you can do in the rural or peripheral setup in Nepal. This case has to referred to the higher center.

I am specializing in Palliative care and looking for answers regarding a patient who has SCC in the last 2 -3months of life and needs conservative treatments; that is the reason for my enquiry.
Could you please guide me to a palliative care physician or nurse.
Do the people of Nepal treat wounds using conservative methods?
I am trying to find out home remedies or inexpensive ways used by people of different cultures globally.
