alcohol and diabetes???

one of our tutior said that alcohol causes hypoglycemia... so can a diabetic patient {type 2** can be given small amount of alcohol daily to control blood sugar level?

Answer to your questin is NO

Its seen only in Chronic alcoholism which is due to

• Increase in NADH
• Impaired gluconeogenesis
• other metabolic imbalance

Pathogenesity in DM and chronic alcoholism is entirely different. DM is entirely different thing. If that would have been the case we would have won DM whic is becoming leading cause of morbidity.

It might be creating little bit of confusion to you which is acceptable in your level, and I must admire your querry.
