Gardasil, HPV & Males ???

Going through this piece of news on GARDASIL HERE and surfing GARDASIL's OFFICIAL SITE am curious to know more about protection from HPV.
This vaccine is said to protect girls from cervical cancer & genital warts and is given to girls and women ages 9 to 26. It is said it works when given before one contact with HPV Types 6, 11, 16, and 18. And my curiousity lies regarding the gender, HPV & the vaccination.
HPV Types 16 and 18 cause 70% of cervical cancer cases, and HPV Types 6 and 11 cause 90% of genital warts cases and yes males do suffer from latter one. Like females, can males be protected from HPV infection beforehand like females with Gardasil vaccination? Or do we have such ones?

They can be to some extent prevented, but not 100% protected, same applies to female too.

To your curiosity: Contrary to the USA, in Europe, Gardasil can also be given to boys of age between 9 bis 15 years. The vaccine is effective to this age group, given that they had no sex [infection].There are still studies being performed on young and mature men, so you can claim neither effectivness not safeness so far.
Since male are mostly carrier of the virus and can easily infect the partner, it is wise to use condoms. If used correctly probably the best way to protect. However sexual revolution has changed the sexual behaviour, so one should be careful.

well last time, when I read about it on it's official site, they only mentioned for females.

by the way, is it really necessary to have sex to get infected with HPV virus? i think/read only some HPV virus types are transmitted through sex. And other thing, if males aged 9-15 can get this, before they are sexually active, I believe it can be helpful.

so it won't be protecting 100% then.

It is directed only against most common virus-types, which result in ca 70% of all cervical cancers as also mentioned by psychotic. So it has no protective effect against other virus-types, which make the rest (30%).

No, you have some more choices. , although sexual transmission is the usual mode. Following modes are possible:

• Mother-to-child transmission

• direct contact ( shaking hands: HPV may reside in finger nail of patients (HPV-6 & 11). In this sense, even condom would fail to protect.)

• Modern and liberal way of sexual practise may also lead to its oral transimission, and may cause phyrangeal CA.
