Dr. Suvash - Staff of the MONTH in JYI - 01-02-2008, 09:09 PM

Dear Friends,

Our xenomed adviser Dr Suvash Shresth is also very great Science Journalist in Journal of Young Investigator (from American Academy of Sciences in collaboration with SCIENCE magazine). He has been staff of the month in the 2008 January.

Many of us are unaware of his this dimension. The JYI is honoring him with this feature!!!

It has been written like this:

Quote:
Suvash Shrestha is from Bhaktapur, Nepal. He attended Hermann Gmeiner School, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur and completed the intermediate level in science at St. Xavier’s College, Maitighar, Kathmandu. He is currently in his final year at Kathmandu Medical College studying for a MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery).

Mr. Shrestha has performed research studying acute mountain sickness among children in Gosaikunda, Nepal, and in December 2006, he attended a five-day training workshop on “Health Systems Research Methodology” from the Nepal Health Research Council. He currently works as a co-secretary for the Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal. Mr. Shrestha also conducted an educational training program for village workers in Barabishe, Nepal in association with Vajra Nepal Foundation. Since 2005, Mr. Shrestha has been a moderator for www.xenomed.com, which functions as an online medical community where medical students, doctors, and health professionals can interact globally. Additionally, Mr. Shrestha has co-authored a book, “Angel’s Concise Clinical Manual,” which is used as a guide for medical students in their postings in different medical wards. Aside from his studies, Mr. Shrestha enjoys reading journals, including JYI, NEJM, Lancet, and BMJ, watching movies, and playing sports.

Suvash Shrestha has worked as a Science Journalist in the News and Features Department since September 2007. He writes, “I am proud to be a member of the JYI family.”

Conversely, JYI is proud to have such great staff members like Alexander and Suvash, and we wish them the best of luck with their future endeavors.
