In contrary to other fields, where you do
master's degree, in medicine you
specialize. So in my opinion it is better to say that you are specializing or doing residency rather than master's degree.
For researchers there are degrees like MSc in x(medical field). I admit that there are exceptions like MCh (surgery).
By the way, when we are talking about all these degree thingy, I remember reading signboard of doctors in Nepal.
They often read:
Dr xxxxxxxxx
MBBS, MD
What is the sense behind writing MBBS here ? It is something like when you ask a school boy, in which standard you are, and he replies that he is in 12th and he has also passed the 10th. well, logically, ain't? I remember, I guess it was Love nepal who told that it is all so that patients can differenciate them from then USSR graduates. In my opinion, MDs should only write MD and graduates from USA, Germany, Canada, or any other country where they receive MD for basic medical education should convert to MBBS if they register at NMC, as it is acknowledged by them as MBBS. Then it would be uniform and there would be no hesitation for MDs to drop MBBS, which is funny.
What's your opinion friends ??
