Dear Friends,
The talk program in KMC went great,
The Crowd was good,
And
Keith Burgess talked on
“Frontiers of Sleep Disorder and Altitude”!
It was pretty much enlightenment for all of us!
Few of the interesting points he discussed are:
1. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) disappears while going up and Central sleep apnea (CSA) comes up!
2. Central sleep apnea previously thought protective for AMS is wrong!
3. CSA increased as AMS (LLS) was increased!
4. Sleep apnea is extremely common at altitude - 1/15 or so!
5. Techinical difficulities are there at altitude research e.g. computer freezing. As we go up, the atmospheric pressure drops and ambient density also decreases. Therefore the fans cannot work efficiently leading to the freezing of the instrument. And other regular features e.g Ventilatory response, Bicarbonate wash out, LLSS and altitude assessment, Simulated altitude and actual altitude, old age and altitude brain swelling with reference to the absolute height gained, drugs for sleep disorders at altitude and so many others.
As we all know, sleep is a vast subject and interesting field, altitude seems interestingly interplaying with sleep disorder especially CSA! So our future direction could be heading towards them!!!
Finally, thank you
Prof Dr Buddha Basnyat sir,
Prof Dr Keith Bugess, of course, and our KMC crew :
Suvash Shrestha, Sarensa Palikhey and Raaj Shrestha! Much kudos to you people there for making it success.
And who was in Power point in-charge guys? I guess it was SPrimal rt? Plz correct me if I'm wrong and support if it is correct! Quote:
Personally, I was delighted to meet some of the most active Xenomed members: Medic, SPrimal and others!
Keep up the good work guys!
You have been doing extremely good!
And it was interesting to see a couple of super enthusiastic guys from NMC. I hope they will continue with that spirit and make practical turn over in the ground.
