going to remote areas and serving there.... i donot disagree with the law... but there are some issues that have to be put into consideration before reaching any decision..
- The scholarship holders are not handpicked nor had they won a lottery... they had studied so hard... they were chosen on the basis of the entrance exams... some even wait for couple of years and push themselves to the extremes preparing for the exams.... putting their future at risk without joining any other faculties.... so, the government should not talk as if they had done a big favour for the students and the students now should do what ever they decide.....
- And two years is too much....ok its well and fine that after the government has helped the students, on the moral basis.... its pay back time...but 2 years is too much and after all, new batches come out every year, so they can easily replace their seniors.. so a year is reasonable...
- It's ok that students should work for the government... but that doesnot mean that government bully and post the students to those areas where there are not enough infrastructure for the doctors to practice their knowledge and skills.... what willl the doctor do in a health station where there are no equipments.... with out equipments the doctors are helpless... after all they have to refer all the patients to central stations........so its only a wastage of manpower which took five glorious years their life... they could have served better staying in centres where they can utilize their knowledge....
- the next thing is security... though the alleged peoples war has come to an end... i don't think the violence has ceased totally.. and especially incidences of arguments and violence against doctors are getting rife... so in such circumstances government should assure the students of proper security....
- if proper amendments are made in the current policy it willnot be difficult for the students as well as the government to implement this policy.. other wise i don't think this policy will work... because under difficult conditions every one will definitely seek for the loop holes and the government definitely have a lots of them.
- anyway i wish all the scholarship holders " best wishes".... do your duty properly.
