Medical students mislabeled as Chinese-russian-australian medical graduates - 30-01-2006, 10:25 PM

First of all we are from nepal, which means we were born in different parts of nepal, grew in the prevailing conditions of nepal and know what is nepal and what costs to become nepali. Whether they are rumors or reality talking or current practices in hospitals or nepal medical council and even health ministry of nepal, nepalese medical students enrolled in or graduated from china-russia-australia are catagorised in a new group and given a label (unethical in professional medicine practice). Regarding medical graduate from any national or international context, simply as a fellowship to work for whole country might be a suitable designation for all the medical graduates despite their background of education. Ministry of health and respected senior doctors constituting the associations of medical practices in nepal are requested for designating a system of common fellowship throughout the country rather than mislabelling us, being the students from one of the above mentioned countries, however, nepali as a nationality.
Some of the very senior members from ministry of health, nepal and nepal medical council have pointed out the disease pattern found in China-russia-australia are not similar to that of Nepal. Therefore, students after graduating from medical institutions from these countries have to work more one year to get recognition from the council or ministry. Not only this, there has been rumor that clinical internships will not be allowed in government hopsitals of Nepal. Most important thing in medical education is learning the way to solve the problems and find the cure for new diseases. Ministry of health and nepal medical council should come out from their traditional mentality that what we rote like parrots for five years in medical institutions will solve all the problems . Our senior doctors were medical students and they are aware that what means for most of the nepalese families to wait for one person to become graduate and earn bread. Besides these practical realities of life, ministry of health, nepal medical council and senior doctors of nepal understand the fact why all the hospitals (government/private) in the cities are heaven for professionals and why there are no any professionals in remote areas. Ministry of health and nepal medical council, being the supreme bodies of health system of nepal have not been able to convince the senior health professionals to seek the work in remote areas of nepal, stop the practices of fake doctors, but they have been harrassing the sentiments of fresh medical graduates instead of encouraging and creating environment for equal co-existence. If the internship are not allowed in government hospitals, then is this a new policy of government to suck out economy of fresh medical graduates by showing the alternative of private hospitals? Government hospitals do not have enough manpower. This is practical reality of Nepal. Ministry of health and nepal medical council are aware that practice of medicine is not ony a work/service, but also a life long education. By stating that Government hospitals are only for service/work, governement itself is cutting the line of education and academic pursuit in field of medicine in nepal.
We,nepalese, medical students/graduates from medical universities, all around the world request ministry of health, nepal, nepal medical council and all the professionals from current practices in nepal to encourage the healthy practical rules and regulations, support for the fresh graduates to fight the diseases of Nepal.
