thanks, but it got down in comparison to last time. cheer up, Sydney is still heidelbergs companion . wow, karolinska is doing good, Melbourne and NUS... too. Thankx for post.

In Germany ppl mostly do not talk about the ranking. If they do then only of mainland Europe ( non English speaking), bcoz they say language effects badly the parameters of ranking. Actually in Germany quality of all universities is similar, because 99% of them belong to the government run free universities. What I admire is they do not charge any buck to students, the state government bears every expenses.

Till few years ago there were no ranking system, as Germany is a social democratic country and believes in equal quality. But nowadays it is like a new fashion to see ranking over here. And THES result has always been impressive for Heidelberg. It is targeting to belong to tops and lot of big constructions are going on at "IN Neuenheimer Feld"-where the medical faculty and its hospitals exist.

Azu, did they also publish the ranking of research institutions??
