Re: Argument Between Heath Minister & Medical Graduates from CHina - 02-02-2008, 04:20 AM

should the government be making criteria to send students to china?

The first thing is how many of us agree that the students coming back from china are not good?

Government making criteria for sending student to china does not sound rational and if it does then there will be voices against that saying that it is against the interest of many students. Any one should be allowed to seek for any education they wish to.

Government already has some rules telling who will be and who wont be eligible to return to Nepal and get a license to practice. More than that. . thinking that government should also examine the students is asking for too much.

These students apply with their own wish to these institute, these renowned institute accept these students - which place should government interfere?

About more scholarship seats, should there be?

The private medical colleges might not be able to offer more seats to government. Indian run give 20% and Nepali run give 10%. Beside that government sends to china and Bangladesh. So in a year we have so many scholarship seats, I dont know how many exactly. More than that, should government be responsible. Those who are competent have enough opportunity, I think.

And those who cannot compete they should be paying. Now they choose to go to china then what can government do about that?

There are otherwise enough seats inside Nepal. But admission in Nepal is tougher than china. Same as those coming from India to study in Nepal. It is not because India does not have enough places for them nor because education in Nepal is in anyway better for them but because these students get easy admission in Nepal.
