Sir Edmund Percival Hillary [20 July 1919 – 11 January 2008] - 10-01-2008, 07:54 PM

Sir Edmund Hillary has died.He was not just one of the two first climbers of Mount Everest but he was a profound Nepal lover and has done a lot for us.I am not just sad because he died but sad because no one in our media seems to know it. I remember the indifference of our media when Riyo taro hasimoto, the japanese prime minister who used to say Nepal is my second home, who built the new Kanti hospital building, who donated in numerous ways to Nepal and worried endlessly about us died.

Death of Hillary,a great Nepal lover is an international headline news and none of our major media houses seem to be aware of it.We should have known when he was sick, our so called biggies should have wished him speedy recovery but our media doesnt even bother to notify his death.

The saddest part of the story is that of the two people who climbed mount everest for the first time. One was the son of our land who deserted us and the other a foreigner never forgot us,helped tirelessly in the mountainous region which is obscure to our own government and never sought any recognition for his work and he has just passed away.

May his soul rest in Peace.May he be the son of this land when he ventures on the Earth next time.
