Well, after reading this article i strongly disagree with him. He compared medicine with the other profession. We can not compare this profession with the other. This profession is above all the profession. A doctor can never be a buisnessman. The docotrs to great extent must be altruistic. Because doctor is the only person who works for the satisfaction of the his patient. It is not necessary that doctor should be satisfied every time but patient should be satisfied 100% everytime. We should be ready to sacrifice our personal interest whenever necessary for the care of the patient. That's why people regard us as a god, who save their life often.
Yes, there are problem in hospitals and policy of the governement. regarding adequate salary, allowances, academic enhancements of individual doctors, work time and other facilities. But by saying this, it is not mean that, we became a doctor to earn money, and should alwys think about making tons and tons of money as the author said.
This same comparison of doctors to god made by the public is creating a scary situation for the nepali doctors to work, which is true. People expect from the doctors that he should manage any problem, how far serious the case might be. So incidents of attack on working docotrs on hospital has been increasing when doctor couldnt save the life of the patient.since few year back in Nepal.
One thing which we must tell to the public, that we are not god, but we are the people whose feelings has some part of god's goodness and alwys dedicated to serve the people so as make them happy and try his best to save the patient life without calculating the money he earn or lose from treating patient. |
