eligibility for NAMS

    frens what is the eligibility for appearing nams exam?
    m confused regarding the 2 yrs criteria.
    i finished my internship in march 2010. but was registered in nmc in december 2010 only. am i eligible to appear in exam? i dont have experiece certificate of 2 yrs as well...have only about 9 months experience certificate.
    when is the nams exam this year? plz somebody give me correct info.

    NAMs need 2 complete yera of working experience after getting the valid NMC number

    MD/MS/MDS Entrance Examination Regulations for session starting Shrawan 2066
    2066/3/9, Tuesday NAMS
    1. For MD/MS/MDS entrance examination, single common MCQ theory examination will be held. It will be based on MBBS syllabus for MD/MS and on BDS syllabus for MDS.
    2. Candidates have to achieve a minimum of 50% in theory paper (MCQ) to pass the entrance examination.
    3. The selection of the candidates will be based on the basis of overall merit list (Remote area marks and academic qualification marks will be the same as before). The theory paper will carry 60 marks and the remaining 40 marks will be from remote area marks and academic qualification marks.
    4. In the entrance examination form, the candidates will have to indicate their choice of subjects. Up to three choices, as first, second and third, can be indicated. The selection will be made strictly as per their choices indicated on the available seats.
    5. During publication of the results, a candidates' roll number / name can appear in both successful candidates list of one subject and waiting lists of other subjects depending on his/her choice. In such cases, in the event that a seat falls vacant in the subject of the waiting list, the candidate will have to compulsorily transfer to the subject of the waiting list depending on his/her preferred choice.
    6. If any seats in any subject remain vacant, application will be invited again from among the remaining eligible merit list candidates for the vacant subjects.
    7. The number of MCQs in the MD/MS and MDS entrance examination will be 120 and the time allotted will be 2 hours.
    Eligibility criteria and examination procedure
    At present, NAMS offers MD/MS/MDS seats in the following subjects:-
    Anesthesiology, Dermatology, General Practice, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Pathology, Radiodiagnosis, Radiotherapy, Periodontics, Prosthodontics.
    Eligibility Criteria for applying to MD/MS/MDS Course
    Candidates should have MBBS / BDS or equivalent degree recognized by the Nepal Medical Council.
    Candidates should have minimum two years of work experience in Government, University or other similar recognized hospitals after temporary registration with Nepal Medical council/Nepal Dental Council.
    Selection procedure for MD/MS/MDS Admission
    Candidates should achieve minimum 50% marks in the written MCQ type entrance examination.
    For selection of the candidates, 60% of the marking would be as per the markings of the written examination, and rest 40% would be given as follows: -
    Experience in remote areas as per the classification of Ministry: 20%
    Marks will be calculated as:
    Remote area number as per government classification x 2 x 2 years
    (Eg. for a person who has worked 2 years in the most remote area, number given will be 5 marks x 2 x 2 years = 20 marks)
    Candidates will receive remote experience marks for 2 years only.
    PG diplomas from a recognized university in concerned subject only (Diploma holder in one subject cannot apply in other subject): 5%
    MBBS / BDS or equivalent (>75%: 5; >60%: 4; >50%: 3): 5%
    ISc or equivalent or certificate in health sciences (>60%: 5; >45%: 4; <45%: 3): 5%
    SLC or equivalent (>75%: 5; >60%: 4; >45%: 3; <45%: 2): 5%
    NOTE
    For the session starting Shrawan 2066 government candidates eligible for study leave will be given preference in the admission. At the time of submitting the application forms, government candidates are required to submit proof of being eligible for study leave. At the time of admission, they have to submit letter showing that study leave has been granted. After government candidates have been selected, among the remaining seats, 60 % seats will be given to subsidized fee category and 40 % seats to full payment fee category. (If the seats cannot be divided into 60:40 ratio, full payment fee seat will be increased)
    Posting of MD Ophthalmology candidates:
    MD Ophthalmology training is being conducted at three institutes affiliated to NAMS. Candidates are posted at one institute for the whole three year period. Candidates who are successful in the MD Ophthalmology entrance examination will be posted to one institution by lottery system conducted by the subject committee.
